Choose Local

From Kaevo’s welcome screen, create a household and choose Local. You’ll skip Kaevo account creation.

Connect to Jellyfin

Enter your server’s full address, including a custom port if it uses one. Your phone must be on the same network, or connected through your own VPN.

Example only. Use your server’s actual address. If iOS asks for Local Network access, allow it.

Sign in. Settle in.

Use your Jellyfin username and password. Add the local profiles you need and choose their viewing limits. There’s no limit on local profiles.

Create your Kaevo account

Choose Cloud when creating a household. Create your account, then confirm your email using the verification link.

Add the Kaevo Plugin

The household owner installs it once. In Jellyfin’s Dashboard, go to Plugins → Repositories and add Kaevo as a custom repository.

Open the plugin Catalog, find Kaevo, install it, and restart Jellyfin. Then return to Kaevo to finish connecting your server.

Choose your Cloud plan

Individual connects one profile; Family connects up to six. Confirm the price and any eligible trial in Apple’s purchase screen.

Bring your people along

Choose the profiles with Cloud access. Invite people using their own devices. Kids sharing a device don’t need a separate invitation. Your other profiles remain free locally.

Scan or enter your code

In Kaevo, scan the owner’s invitation QR code or enter its short-lived, one-time code. They handle the server, plugin, and Cloud subscription—no VPN setup or incoming router ports for you.

Sign in, or make yourself an account

Create your own Kaevo account and verify your email, or sign in if you already have one. The invitation never requires the owner’s Jellyfin password.

Join your household

Complete the invitation in Kaevo and use the profile the owner has made available to you. You do not need to install the plugin again.
